Entryway mat help

I need help with my interior entrance which opens right into my formal living room, which is a work in progress. Please note we are updating the windows, taking down the shutters and hanging curtains. My main question is just about the area by the door. I have been trying to find an entrance mat that works. Not sure this one does. I was thinking maybe I should do a dark gray mat with a little more texture? I prefer a solid so as not to compete with the rug in living room. Also, it can’t be a high pile because of the way the door swings. The existing mat is a 4x6 mat. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Priority one is that it is not a stumble hazard or one the door catches the edges and moves to create a stumble hazard.

Since the mat/rug you have in place seems to visually mostly disappear, I'd say it works well. Perfect color choice.

Really nice welcoming looking room.

If that is a rubber tree plant between the doors and windows, remember to give it some light and keep turning it so it doesn't lean toward the light. You might invest in a rolling plant tray (one that will catch water to protect your carpet/floors and preferably four wheels -- much better balance than three wheels) so you can move it frequently to get the light from the window and move it back where you want it for decorative reasons as you choose.

The rug color is good. Can you turn it, or will the entry table get in the way?

Beverly thanks! I am working on finding a couple accessories such as a small stool and perhaps a wooden bowl/tray for the console. Unfortunately we had to choose a console with a small footprint due to the door swing.

Where does the runway from the front door lead to? That's a lot of unused space!

A mat isn’t what’s needed, it is a runner. A mat to absorb should be place outside.

Flor tiles would be perfect. Thin enough to fit under door, solid backing helps protect wood from moisture, and you could pick a solid or patterned - lots to choose from. Flor.com

A bit dull I think? You don't want it to take over, but you do want a bit of definition to the entry, EVEN with the bold doors. I'd do a cowhide. You can scrub dirt right off, they are so thin and flat the door isn't an issue. You can even TRIM. This is for example...... I doubt you's have trouble with a five by seven. The lack of a very definite geometric "shape" is a bonus : )

The area really seems lopsided with the heavy furniture on one side and the light, airy piece on the other. Are you sure this is the best arrangement for the entire space? May we see all 4 walls and the furniture? I'm thinking you can do better all the way around.
