You might make a landing spot in front of the door with your tiles, then find a plank style tile to put down around it to bridge over to the other tile. Something like a pale French oak porcelain tile could work to keep it casual.

Can you create a "sidewalk tile rug" the width of door unit and fill in the remaining with a very dark smaller tile. Don't even attempt to make" even " edges on the two long sides.

My horse would love to get in the house I bet. I think if you want to use those tiles then you need to post a to scale drawing of the space and the exct # of tiles you have and I think if you have enough it makes sense to use them as a border if you can find something that will work with them for the center “carpet” that way it is a nice transition into the kitchen As for how to lay out the tiles you will need to figure that out once you have a bench picked out

Scoop up some real farm dirt from the front yard into a ziploc bag. Take it (and a spare big tile) to the tile shop to pick out something inexpensive that's close in color to the dirt. You can cut cardboard pieces in the 12 by 24 shape of the real tiles to move around like a jigsaw puzzle while you experiment with a border. A centered tile "rug" would get partly covered up by the necessary front door rug or mat.

BTW, sometimes a particular tile color is discontinued but other colors remain available in the same line. Check with the tile shop or manufacturer to see if there's a complementary color in your same tile line.

brilliant thank you cutting out cardboard now moving furniture to mock up bench and will play real life tetris - i could possibly get my kids interested in this now. hope this drawing helps show more.

We often leave doors open. This is why I wanted a dutch door but they were too expensive and we are not crafty enough to convert a door. We also let our old horse, goats, chickens, ducks etc wander about property and destroy all attempts at landscaping. (used to have a bottle lamb that came in house looking for me and checked the doors sounds cute but they don't housetrain - gross) My horse will go inside anywhere garage, shed, chicken coop for chicken food. He puts head inside windows left open in cars and trucks he'll check for crackers, chips, bread, and some fruit but not apples- weirdo. On one of his foraging trips just inside kitchen door he slipped a bit and rammed down on one tile that cracked. He is not invited in but he watches doors. Animals are now locked up when parties and bbq are thrown as they forget they are livestock and get pushy and graze the appetizers which is really the dogs job. kinda funny I suppose if you are not used to it, but predictably irritating if you know better and let them out to find your garlic bread gone. So my need for impervious flooring - mini farm. I did use our dirt when selecting colors too!. thanks for all the help I couldn't think of how to finish entryway on a budget but these ideas help.
