I just bought a 1937 cabin on the lake. One bedroom has beautiful fir flooring. I pulled the carpet out of the hallway and found the same. But when I pulled back the carpet in my bedroom I found what I think is asbestos tile! It is flush with the hardwood in the hallway, so there is nothing under it. The tiles are a coffee and chocolate color in a checkerboard pattern. They seem to be in good shape. Should I be worried? My mom said to put the carpet back so I don't release any dust. I want the vintage tile though, it is pretty. Am I playing with fire?
