So if you change the duvet then there is no navy blue in the room.

The curtains on the right are navy blue and the master bath is navy blue (towels, rug, etc.)

Do you have any other furniture or rug in this room that would have to be taken into consideration? If not, start with new bedding. Even if you were to paint the wall navy you can see by your visualizer that it isn't adding anything to take it to the next level. Matching paint is always easier than painting first and then trying to find something to go with it. Is there a particular look you are trying to achieve?

I'm showing you the below photo to show you that you could actually do all the walls navy if the right bedding and accessories are selected rather than just one wall. This is a very small (smaller than yours) bedroom that we did for an OP on Houzz that started with all white walls. The chair, the dark grey headboard and painting were the only things we started with. After everything was selected the black wall paint was lastly picked and the whole room was painted black which made the room feel very cozy but still bright IMO. Here we actually found the pillows first that complimented what the OP wanted to keep and decorated around them. I found them on Etsy in India or Turkey.

That's all the furniture in the room...espresso-colored wood and navy blue curtains with navy blue bathroom colors. I'd like to keep a navy blue look to the room, but don't know how to take it to the next level.

I have. I'm assuming that if I'm going with a dark wall color, I need to change the bedding to be white with maybe a navy blue blanket or pillows on the bed to draw it together.

And perhaps even a third color to add more color to the room than a two-tone.

Can you post a close up of your painting as I want to see if we could draw some colors from that for the bedding. Navy is really neutral so almost any color will work with it. What is really driving the color is going to be your furniture espresso color.

It's a tapestry of Noah's Ark. I'm ok to replace it. I've had it for nearly 15 years. If it fits with the look then great, otherwise I'm ok with more of an up to date look.

OK. Since you don't have any idea books with rooms that you like, can you give us an idea of what "style" you might like?

I like simple, non-cluttered, modern. Nothing floral, or coastal and my husband is not in favor of table lamps. We have whiteish-cream colored carpets with black specks.

Excellent examples. So between the two photos which one is your favorite? The first one is a traditional style, straight forward, minimal texture. The 2nd photo is a traditional modern. More texture and patterns.

I like the second one better.

Yes, but he doesn't want the table lamps and I'm not sure what to put in its place to help balance the color. We also do not have the wood floors or the arch with inset blue, but I love the look. Is there a way to transition this into the space and design we do have?

Yes, we can use this as your Inspiration bedroom. We'll take elements from it that you can work with so no worries about wood floors or the alcove. And let's not worry about the lamps right now though I'll ask later why.

The number of pillows in your picture are perfect.

Ok. So those are 20". I think that was a queen bed which it looks like yours is, too? Let's look for a pair of 20" (at least) decorative pillows (we can always add a smaller one if needed). I have the best luck with finding pillows ( they will be covers usually) on Esty. So when you have time, start looking and put them in your Ideabook as you come across ones that you like. And I'll have an Olivia Ideabook and I'll add pillows, too, and we'll see what we come up with. And maybe some other Houzzers will chirp in with some ideas, too.

I would never have guessed! We may want to go larger so let's look for 20" and larger and see what we come up with. Could also do 3 pillows across if need be. Let's find the pillow and then we can figure it out.

I was looking at the white duvet cover and just thinking it was a little too white. I like the idea of having some matching feature in it to the pillows and room, subtle though.

Take this photo and put your blue and gray bedding in it as it shows more of your carpet. Do you have a gray towel or clothing you can put on the bed and see if you like gray with the carpet? You are doing a great job putting different combos together.

Yes, I think the gray will work against the carpet. It has specks of black and the comforter is a gray/black/tan.

What about the TV wall or curtains for the window? I have nothing against the TV wall except the TV and I have navy blue curtains currently and mirror.

I got that incorrect. It is actually just a King.

OK. I would suggest that you get that duvet before you go to far on selecting and purchasing other things just to make sure you like it in the room.
