there are a lot of directions that you could go that would look great, but my personal preference is for a large mirror in an entry way (full width of the console):

I'm thinking you will answer your own question if you go searching entryways in houzz and set up an idea book with lots of inspiration elements - maybe share your favorite here. Do you want just a mirror, or mirror and art? This is a beautiful piece of furniture! How traditional do you want to stay, or would you like to mix it up with something more mod on top? Also, do you want to go shopping - say, get a big sunburst mirror as a transitional element (my first thought) that can make this young and funky - or do you want to look at craigslist and overstock and see what kind of bargain finds you could work with? Have some fun looking around before you leap!

Just wondering....is there something white behind the vase/twigs on the floor? Are you intent on keeping the items ON this piece, which is a beautiful piece!

Paint the vent to match the wall so it won't have to be camo'd with the see-thru' container and sticks. Decor items do best if grouped in threes, fives or sevens (if there is room) and are large enough to be seen. Generally, photos work best in more private areas of the home. You might hitch up the dark lamp cord to the back of the furniture so it isn't dangling. You can also use the furniture legs to hide cords. Two ways to go as you search for the right piece. It can be up to 75% of the furniture's width, or you can try and match it to the front indented panel where the drawers are. Keep those measurements with you as you shop for the right item for your wall.

BRENDA...the ceiling height is quite high. Not sure off the top of my head but its a cathedral ceiling. I like the idea of the mirror being length of console. thanx

If you're not dead set on a mirror, I would suggest art. I love the soft, natural feel of the space and feel like a painting could subtlely add a little bit of color and style. Your space made me think of this design http://pinterest.com/pin/497225615080021697/ .

I like the old gold leaf mirror leaned instead of hung. They are a lot of fun to shop for if you like to rummage through consignment stores and antique shops. $75 these days... can buy you a nice large mirror.

I like antique gold leaf mirror with wide frames because it's just traditional and classic. Of course if you want to keep with the silvers, you might even be able to find an old mirror and paint the color silver on that you like most. Maybe a darker silver than the walls. I think a trip to Lowe's and just ask someone to help you pick paint for your frame.. tape it off.. get a "good" brush.. I don't know if you like the distressed paint look so it looks old, but either way - that might be a good idea. Tall would be good, so that you can see your full shoulders/head as you walk out the door and want that last check to make sure your lookin' good! I'm thinking a pewter color would be nice. The reason I say to look through antique shops for the mirror is that it's hard to get a new one with that nice big wooden frame.. If you want to keep it more modern, you might be able to buy one at just about any good furniture store. I'm a huge fan of the mirror with a lamp in front. It's such a lovely space.

Try the clover leaf mirror from Target - straight & curved edges. Edit down the frames and put a bowl or container on the furniture piece to catch items -keys, phone, change, mail, etc.

My oh my..what a fabulous entryway table. I would say you should add some fur elements or natural accents around that table there. A stuffed fox or bearhead would make it look more rustic and the mirror could reflect the bears head when you walk in the door.
