Put the TV to one side of the FP and the other side a matching cabinet with art above much better IMO than builtins with a bunch of stuff not worth displaying TVs above FPs are always a bad choice for viewing height . Then you get to design the FP you love. BTW I would still need to see the space and get some info about your style.

Thanks. We were thinking of getting “mantelmount “for tv so we can lower the tv to proper viewing height when needed

@ccameron - What did you end up going with and can you share pics? I am making the same decision for my great room (2-story ceiling height)

We ended up going with a 36 majestic rectangular fireplace. I think it works with the shape of the TV. The fireplace box has black granite surround. We mounted the TV on a mantelmount so we can watch at eyelevel. We are very happy with our choices.

That looks really beautiful! I’m choosing between a square fireplace for $3000 or a rectangular fireplace for $6500. Just thinking it may be not worth the price difference. This is the builder price and both include the installation, fireplace and stone up to the 2 story ceiling.

Wow that is a huge difference! I would probably go for the square and splurge somewhere else. Sure it will look beautiful either way. Good luck with your build
