What would you do with this entryway?

I’m trying to make my entryway more inviting but feel as though it is rather odd shaped and it’s stumping me. I figure I need a bench or something to allow for a place to take shoes on/off but the only logical place is on a wall that is hidden where it seems hidden from view. (Not sure if that’s a good thing or not?) Anyway, would love to get your thoughts!

Oh! Such a nice shape to your entry.

I think the place that is hidden (where the shoes are now) is the perfect location for a bench to sit and take off/put on shoes. Have baskets under the bench to store the shoes while inside. Or you could go all out and have a bench with a back and hooks for coats. That whole area is conveniently hidden. You could go casual or semi dressy depending on your overall style. I love that that section is hidden to the front door. Or you could do a very simple bench in your style with mirror above.

Replace the credenza and art with a hall tree with a seat, shoe storage, mirror, hanging hooks.

Add a corner cabinet (? in what appears to be an empty?) angle for a lamp and your "hello".

At least consider extending the top of the closet all the way to the ceiling.

Oh! Really like that 2nd picture with the built in bench! (My husband will hate me for that) I’m glad someone else likes the idea of it hidden - don’t know why that always seemed off to me haha

In regards to putting a bench where the credenza is, that space opens up to my living area - would it be weird on that wall? I’ve added a photo to show how the space opens up.

Your home is beautiful. I wouldn't muck up the entry by having the bench highly visible on the right wall as you walk in from the front. So much nicer to have it hidden around that corner IMO.

I like the bench on the hidden wall. People sitting down taking shoes off won’t be in the flow of traffic

I also like the bench on the hidden wall, but would do something a little dressier as it is not a mudroom and is in the front foyer of your home (something like the last picture Denita posted. The one thing I really would do is extend the closet to the ceiling. For some reason, that seems an eyesore in an otherwise nice space.

Appreciate all the thoughts all! Definitely agree about extending the closet up; that’s been a weird space to me along with the ledges in the living area (you can kinda see them in the photo from my last comment and they are on the chopping block when I can convince the husband to take them out...)

Any thoughts on a rug in the entry area? There is a big open space in front of the credenza and not sure if a rug would be appropriate? And if so, what size?

Use the hidden wall where the shoes are in the photo. I'd put a decorative shoe tray under a bench.

If you can find a corner bench or hall tree that will fit where the shoes are "hidden", then consider putting one there. Time to get out the measuring tape.
