The hosta forum is pretty active right now because of the alphabet. It’s nice to talk plants and plans with people when outside is boring....plus when I imagine all the possibilities of what the garden might look like this year the beds are all weed

Hi !! I thought I’d share what I ordered so far. I don’t have places in mind for these but I sure as heck wasn’t going to miss out on them!

I plan on stopping by hobby lobby to see some trellis although confession time, I have 4 in storage lol

but maybe an obelisk type will look nice :)

It's quiet because it is the middle of winter for almost all regular forum participants and not much is happening with any kind of clematis at this time of year!!

If I was still in my old garden, I could show you pics of my winter flowering C. cirrhosa. But none of the clems I am currently growing have anything to offer at this time of years. I have no intention to add to my collection at this point as I already have more than I have room for and am forced to use less successful container culture instead. But you never know what I may encounter during the more typical growing season and decide must come home to add to my too full garden :-)

Lilyfinch, those picotee types are among some of my favorites, mind you, I do like most clematis types and colors! Over the years, I easily must have grown 75 plus different varieties, though have acquired few since moving from my previous residence, so I really need to change that! Here's one that I had hybridzed about fifteen years ago, it's a heavy flowering small flowered gem!

FrozeBudd, let me get this correct, that's your very own clematis creation? It's exquisite, just look at those elegant long flower stems and dainty cupped blooms! The bottom photo almost looks like a cornus dogwood, the yellow stamens setting them off nicely. Do you have other hybrids of your own, are you still doing clematis breeding? I always admire those who take the time and energy to do intentional crosses and then grow out what can be an enormous number of seedlings and then select the best from among them.

I appreciate your comments Mark. I have created many clematis hybrids, though not in recent years, should get back with it, it's plenty of fun! Here's a few of them.

My friend Stanley Zubrowski of Saskatchewan had developed the below hybrid named 'Joe Zary', it's a rather magnificent specimen that blooms for most of the summer. Just too bad he had not acquired a patent and royalties upon all plants sold, as rather large numbers of 'Joe Zary' have been propagated and purchased throughout the world and would have garnered him a mint!

I have admired 'Joe Zary' at several botanial gardens across Canada, about time I seek it out for myself! Beautiful clematis you have there, each one every bit as nice as the next, though I'm especially fond of the brightly colored first one! From 2016, there's a very nice thread of you having received a visit from a GW member and his family, I have relatives in Edmonton, possibly I could visit your gardens this summer when I venture to western Canada?
