What is the counter material? Is the backsplash a separate piece?

Counters are granite and the backsplash is a separate piece.

Can you take a picture further back. What is that behind the cooktop?

Thank you adding the picture above. If the back-splash is the only piece you are replacing, I would opt to tie in the color of the floor and shades above on the left, possibly with a row of subway beige porcelain tiles. This would also soften the transition between the dark brown counters and cabinetry to the light blue/white tile.

It’s the light blue white tile we intend to replace - sorry I wasn’t clear about that - so we are actually trying to blend the dark cabinets and dark granite counters.

When I look at your images, what sticks out to me is the polished concrete. I'd go with something that looks great with it, and it will all come together

Good point in the concrete - would you go matte or polished?

I think I'd go with something with a slight sheen - not glossy and not matte....more like satin.

Ooh, then may I suggest distressed and sealed sheet of copper? The tones may just compliment your counter tops and tie the dark to the light in a more innovative way, and the smooth surface is durable and easy to clean.

Are you doing away with that 6" splash? Is it even removable?

What about stainless steel tile for backsplash or black glass tiles?
