I used equal parts of: (cup of larger bowel, same measure for all; water as needed)

Portland Cement

Coco peat

Perlite

Vermiculite

Most of the pots were made using above recipe. The lighter ones were made using white cement. I had the pots covered and kept moist for 48 hours and then they were immersed in water for a minimum of 1 week, with water changed couple of times when it got slimy. Lastly I added small amount of vinegar to the water with the last water change.

For the draped container, I used heavy cloth (discarded sofa cushion cover) and used only cement and some perlite for texture.

Thanks for sharing your recipe and process. I have made a few hypertufa containers and objects but lately I have not done any. I should start again. I have the ingredients. I am originally from India too (Kolkata) and was intrigued by your post.

Chandra, your containers are inspiring! And tropicofcancer, there is nothing better than semps and sedums in a nice hypertufa trough! Gorgeous. I like the little side bowl too.

The side bowl was not planned, it was just leftover mix. I should get back to making some more - it is a lot of fun.
