Having a vanity in one's bedroom was pretty standard for decades. Many people still do. Google images of 'vanity in bedroom' and you should get plenty of pics.

Maybe show a pic of your room. I would not do it beside my bed. I find bedroom lighting poor for doing makeup usually.

The problem with a vanity in the bedroom is that there will be times where you will have to get ready while your SO is still sleeping.

I have always had my makeup vanity in my bedroom (I hate putting on makeup in the bathroom). I have a makeup mirror with lights and it works great, even if I dim the other lights because DH is sleeping (rare).

Yes, go for it! I have always had a "dressing table" in my bedroom, even as a teenager. I can't STAND to put makeup on in the bathroom, or get dressed otherwise either

. Too hot and humid in there, and the lighting generally sucks. I would suggest, however, if you have a window that your table could go in front of, put it there for the natural light. Get a good makeup mirror with lights. If the table you want to use doesn't have drawers, use a small dresser or night stand or a nice bookcase or shelving unit with baskets to hold our stuff. You can get totally girly or more sedate.

I had a vanity in my bedroom for years. Why anyone would prefer standing over a bathroom counter is beyond me. When I traveled I hated having to groom in the bathroom versus seated comfortably at my vanity.

I don't think most people have lifestyles where the woman is grooming while the SO needs to continue sleeping but if you happen to lead that kind of lifestyle, then I guess it's not for you. Conversely I am always puzzled by people who absolutely need two sinks in the master bath. How much time are they actually spending over a sink. Many times I see two sinks squeezed in at the sacrifice of more counter space as well as interior storage.

Agree with Helen as far as two sinks in the bathroom go -- rather have the countertop space.

As to "vanity" in the bedroom, do you mean with sink? if you do, then nope. If you just mean a place to sit and get your hair and makeup ready for the day ... why not? but,

Instead of a "vanity", you might consider a small desk with the appropriate lighted reversible portable mirror and another mirror on the wall with an art mirror above it: gives you more options and, especially if you're not convinced one way or the other, less judgment/regrets, especially since you're more apt to be able to find a desk in the same wood as your bed than a "vanity".

I don't think a bedroom vanity has to be a "vanity". Any surface with storage - room for mirrors - and a place to sit works. There is a forum on redditt which deals with makeup storage and there are some wonderful examples of how women did creative stuff in terms of creating a vanity from all kinds of original furniture.

Before I remodeled, I had an old fashioned vanity that was part of my vintage Waterfall bedroom suite. When I remodeled, I thought about keeping the vanity in the bedroom but then decided it made more sense for me to have a vanity in the master bathroom and free up space in the bedroom. I used the space where the second sink had been and that area has a lowered counter versus the sink which I raised higher. I got a lovely Lucite bench to use. I have a great Simple Human small mirror for magnification and closeups and the wall mounted mirror. I had one of the drawers fitted with slots for hair grooming stuff - brushes and dryers etc. My bathroom has very good ventilation so it isn't a steamy environment.

Since I was keeping the Waterfall armoire and bureau, I repurposed the two end pieces as night stands.
