Babka has some big ones, too. Ours are pretty small.

We get snails here that have shells over an inch wide, but not slugs like that one! Yikes. Get the salt shaker out!

arent they just escargot without a shell??? ... lol ..

did you mailorder anything in from the pnw ... or wherever they come from ...

my biggest question ... are they able to winterover in z5 ...

i always thought the robins were rooting around in my beds to eats MI sized slugs... but crikey man ... how big a bird you need to eat this monster??? ... lol

I've never seen these before in WV and I have lived and gardened here over 35 years!

I did get a bareroot rose order from Regans end of March last year, but I really don't think (hope) any eggs could have hatched and gotten that big that soon.

I have a real problem with sowbugs and slugs in my hostas as it is, and I don't need more of anything like that anywhere in my gardens!

But every year I bring home pallets of purchased top soil, compost and bark mulch and I have at least 4 different noxious weeds that I know came with those purchases. The dirts come within the state but I'm not sure where the mulches all came from as I buy a lot of broken bags that have been rebagged.

I live in the PNW and I don’t believe anything eats them. “They” say birds do but I think its baloney.

Ducks and geese are supposed to eat slug. That one is a full meal.

It IS a leopard slug and although not native (to anywhere in the US), they have naturalized widely throughout most of the world and are found in 46 of the 50 states.

And slugs have all manner of predators - fish, reptiles and amphibians, a number of birds including blackbirds, starlings, owls, seagulls, ducks and Canada geese. And various mammals as well. They are also cannibalistic and will feed on their dead.

The best slug bait I have is the remains of squashed slugs. Then they just add to the pile.

it`s funny in Germany and Switzerland they are calles tiger slugs,

they can grow to about 8 inches long,

are European, ergo native ergo good, and must be protected ;-)

and are wellcomed by greeny gardeners because they tend to prey on other baby slugs and eggs (says wikipedia)

so you got a fancy slug that has travelled far (or rather its great great great granny granpop )

ya know, we drain the swamp and the slugs have to look for new homes ... they are in 50 of the 50 states ...
