Where do you eat your meals?

And why do you like where you eat there?

I tried to post here as well as cooking and kitchen table but it wouldn't let me. So I'm doing a separate post here. I copied and pasted below.

We eat our meals in the dining room just off our kitchen. We love it there as it is a bright room with window down the length of it. It is conveniently close to the kitchen which has a sliding door to close off any mess and is open to the LR. We don't have a great view but that doesn't seem to lessen the appeal of the space. The setup makes it welcoming and convenient, two things I love.

We could set up a table by our back door but that is closed off to any view and for me then is counter intuitive.

We eat most meals in the breakfast room because it has windows on three sides so it is light-filled and has a lovely view.

We eat most meals in the kitchen, outside the peninsula of the U. It has a view of the front yard and the beautiful house across the street, and one person has a view of the back yard through the dining room behind the breakfast nook. It’s also convenient to the upstairs.

My parents started eating lunch and dinner in their family room instead of the breakfast nook, though it was a bit of a walk. It was a cozy room, and we almost always had dinner there after we grew up.

Dining room - that's what it's for. Also, you can see that there are cutouts so that we can see into the living room and watch TV while eating, but we never have the TV on while we are eating. If I am going to prepare a meal, it deserves the respect of being eaten in the dining room. Besides which, we have no other place to eat, other than the living room, and that is just barbaric IMO. Snacks can be eaten in the living room, but not an elaborate meal.

Weather permitting (which it usually is), we eat every breakfast and dinner outdoors at a long teak table overlooking our swimming pool to enjoy the view of our blooming collection of Adenium Obesum (also known as Desert Roses) and take in all the bird activity. Nutmeg Manikins flit in and out of their two nests near the table and a greedy crew of doves join us for home-made bread crumbs tossed onto the ground or scattered on our table (I know not hygienic but we don't touch anything they visit). We swear at all the landscaping noise and above our heads flight traffic (commercial aircraft, flight school planes and sight-seeing helicopters) but still love being out there with nature. Every lunch is spent at the dining table indoors because we are too lazy to set up the outdoor table for a third meal and sit in the blazing sun.

Most always eat in our nook - there's a table for 4 there. (It's just the two of us.) It overlooks our private backyard with lots of foliage and wildlife. If my dad is at our house, he likes to eat in there too. If we have family/friends we eat in the dining room and I also have a table I can set up in the sunroom (vintage drop-leaf). The dining room and sunroom views are both of the backyard, and lots of natural light. Lately we have been seeing a group of 8 deer some mornings, they cut up through our yard. During the holidays we referred to them as the reindeer LOL!

This is when the area was newly done, but now there’s a nice cushion and more pillows on the bench. When I’m eating alone (most of the time breakfast and lunch) I eat here. When DH and I eat together, we alternate between kitchen and dining room depending on what we’re having and/or how much stuff is piled on the table. More than two — we generally go to the dining room although we can fit 4 here.

Breakfast and lunch, at my breakfast/dining table. Dinner at the coffee table in front of the tv.

I designed the island of the new house (we moved a few months ago) so dh an I could eat catty corner, when it was just the two of us. It gets used as intended whenever 2 people are eating. If it is more than 2, we move to the dining area. It’s all one big space, open.

We are almost always seated at the island and on very rare occasion the adjacent dining table. We like that the area is open to the living room and yes, we watch TV while we eat unless we have guests.

Sue, cute space. Still hoping you decide you hate that cow painting and give it to me. : )

ETA: Oh, and more pictures everybody. And Paradise, you really have to post a photo. You had me at "Weather permitting (which it usually is)" Sigh. I think my favorite part of my home is sitting in the DR looking out the windows. Dining outside is even better but that is only spring and summer of course!

PPS Sorry I can't like posts right now!

When the children were still living at home, we ate meals at the kitchen table. Now that we are empty nesters, we will either sit at the breakfast bar, or we eat in the living room in our recliners.

When the grandkids stay the night (depending on how many are here) we either eat at the dining table or the breakfast bar.
