Tiled access panel?

I’m looking for feedback on two items for our basement bar. When we finished our basement, in order to give more flexibility in layout, we ended up drywalling over our radon pipe, leaving access to the meter as shown (the cut out in the wall).

I’m hoping to get ideas on how to conceal this, as we want to do a tiled backsplash (white subway tile). I’ve looked a lot online and it does seem they make magnetic access panel kits you can tile over.

Wondering if anyone has experience doing this or using kits like this? Does it matter than we don’t have the drywall that has already been cut out?

Or, if anyone has any other creative thoughts on other ways we could hide it yet still make it look nice. Friends have suggested concealing it with art work but I feel that would ruin the aesthetic.

My second question is where the backsplash should end on the right side. The counters are L-shaped, but there are no cabinets on the wall on the right. Do I end the backsplash in line with the top cabinet on the right? Do I extend it all the way to the wall? It’s not in the budget to tile the entire wall, though I wish it was.

hmmm,, why do the cabinets look off? that portion on the far right needs something to balance it out. why don't you put two floating shelves to eat up that space, and then take your tile all the way to the wall.

or do some floating glass shelves for extra bottles

I can't see the other wall, but you could choose to tile it if you had floating shelves over there too.

In the pic it looks like the left side cabinet falls over the countertop. does it?

The other thing is you already have a backsplash. that piece going up the back. Normally you have that, or tile, but not both.

the access panel. You could choose to tile all around it and then make a little hinged door for it.

maybe a flat panel w/chalkboard paint so you can something 'bar' like on it. (like, beer, .05 cents,,,or something )

or, hang a little picture over it. or, tile the hinged door.

hang some glasses and you should even notice it

photo shop w/the shelves at the end and hanging glasses to cover the panel

what might look cool is a mirror tile on the entire wall, all the way up to the ceiling and above the cabinets.

they did mirror subway tiles atop the 4" piece up the back,,,,shows you what it would look like

Why does the pressure gauge have to be in the middle of a kitchen wall? I suggest relocating it as it can be anywhere between the floor that is being radon-evacuated and the evacuation fan. It just taps into the radon exhaust pipe through a 1/4" hole or such. Connect some tubing to where the gauge is currently tapped into the pipe and extend it out to where you would like the pressure gauge.
