Hello! i am ready to finally redo my kitchen. Easy right?! Fun right?! I thought it would be but I am getting in my own way. Unlike many people, interior design just doesn’t come easy to me.

I don’t have a strong style. We like warm and inviting. We are drawn towards elements of several styles but not one specific style. We have a few furniture pieces from our deceased parents that will stay so that makes it some what challenging too. My biggest concern is resale, I plan to move in about 10 years and need the kitchen to stand the test of time while being enjoyable for us in the meantime.

When we moved in we knew the floors (white carpet throughout) and the kitchen had to go! The floors will be engineered hardwood or LVP, but deciding on the shade/tone has been challenging given our limited light. We both love wood elements, so are leaning toward wood cabinets. But have discussed white. He actually found a countertop that he likes, and I do too, Cambria Montgomery. So is the countertop too trendy to last? Should I pick a different counter and a more trendy backsplash?

My house doesn’t have a lot of natural light so we are concerned about how dark the wood elements will make the room Will can lights be the answer to offset this or will the appearance still be dark and uninviting?
