You are off to a great start and I think it is wonderful you are making your house look nice for *you* even with kids. I would get a neutral rug that takes up a good bit of this space. Look for indoor / outdoor rugs as they are easier to clean and kid friendly. Cement coffee table sounds like a concussion waiting to happen with kids, no? It would be good to see the style of the table before making suggestions a storage unit for beneath the TV. I like your pillows and color pallet. What color did you select for the walls? I would hang above the sofa something dimension rather than just a flat poster or painting - maybe a cool shelf of sorts.

You're off to a good start. My decorator's advice was to choose things in this order:

Wall art - you need something about 2/3 the width of the sofa. How wide is your sofa? Center it on the sofa about 6" above the back. If budget is a consideration, thrift stores are great places to find large pieces for a good price. Or even large frames, which you can paint if necessary and then replace the inside with a print you love from art.com, etsy or similar.

Rug - a medium color in a patter is the most practical for a young family

upholstered furniture like chairs if you need more seating

decor items like pillows, throws

wall paint color is always the very last thing to choose

If you can move the TV cables, consider putting the TV on the wall behind where the couch is now, and move the couch so it is facing the TV. If there is enough room to do this, this will create kind of a foyer area/walkway from the front door
