Sultry, haha, they will go into big pots because there's no empty room in the ground, and that's why I only ordered one each (as a collector). I ordered 2 Marc Chagall because I love it so much I need a back up in case one dies. Helen

Helen, I've been dumping some of my potted roses into the ground to make way for the new roses and give them the pots lol.

I have a lot of land but most of it is shaded with huge trees and big tree roots etc. So only the best 'proven' roses get to be in the ground in the prime sunny spots. I do have more sun away from the house in random areas but I need 350- 400ft hoses or more to reach them. Not happening.

Did Regan's have a coupon code this year? I thought they did, but now I'm thinking I got them mixed up with someone else.

Sultry, sun (especially morning sun) is a precious commodity in my garden, too. Only the best performers have the most sunny spots in the garden.

Sultry, agree. I have been admiring WM for a few years but didn’t get it because people said it will get rust like Abraham Darby. Seeing it in a pot makes it so tempting so I told myself just get it to see how it performs in my garden. About the $60 price for a rose, I told myself it’s for a good cause to help Regan continue to open in the Bay Area :) Helen

Helen, do you know if your WM is on multiflora? The Canadian label made me curious.

Nick, you pointed out a good point. It has the Canadian label, so there’s a high chance that’s it is on multiflora. I got several roses from PalatineRoses on multiflora and they are fine in my garden. There is a rose collector named Beth in California who has thousands of roses and she said roses on multiflora perform fine in her garden. The good thing for gardeners in California is we don’t have to worry about the types of rootstocks like gardeners in Florida or in the cold zones. Helen

I see that Reagan’s has Cherry Frost - supposed to be an actual climber :) for cold zones. This is the only place I’ve seen it listed, I picked one up locally last year. They also have the Pretty Polly roses! And St. Swithun. Happy shopping!

Helen, my apologies for veering off thread here, but since Oliver mentioned that Regan informed him that Benjamin Britten was unavailable, I wanted to share that Harmony Farm Supply in Sebastopol currently has a great selection of David Austin bareroot roses including Benjamin Britten in stock. Oliver, it looks like you are in SF and if you're willing to make the drive up north into Sonoma County, you should check them out.

I got 'Cherry Frost', 'The Pilgrim' (to replace one I lost to RRD), and 'Good Day Sunshine'.

Can't find GDS anywhere else (yet) - thanks for the warning to get these ordered, Bayarea_girl! I'm confident 'Cherry Frost' will show up at own-root vendors like Northland, High Country, and Roses Unlimited in the next few years, but a 2-year old bareroot is a good jumpstart for climbers. GDS is grafted - I'd prefer own-root like the other two, but I don't know if/when we'll see this one hit other vendors.
