When we had our pool built, the bobcat didn't damage any of our concrete. It did damage some pavers we had. The company you use will be able to tell you whether there will be any issues. Part of our contract was that they had to repair anything that was taken down or damaged.

They'll get the dirt out without damage or they'll guarantee to fix any damage. You'll pay for that.

It will most likely get damaged. Understand HEAVY equipment will be running numerous times over the surface. Sometimes plywood or a layer of soil can help.

But, if it's in their contract to make any repairs, then go with it. Just be sure about specifically what will be repaired. A new, separate concrete pour, will look different than the original.

Over a nice patio, I would at least put down heavy plywood. Even if nothing is broken, there would be tire marks left behind.
