Master bath design

We are going to re-do our master bath.

It currently has a 3x3 corner shower (which means it's actually smaller than that), a large whirlpool tub (which we don't use), the toilet in the main part of the bath, and one of the two vanities in the bedroom (as a hotel might have).

There is a cathedral ceiling in the enclosed part of the existing bathroom (shower, toilet, one vanity, linen closet, bathtub). When we enlarge the area to include the vanity in the bedroom, we'll continue the cathedral ceiling there.

We cannot add anything to the footprint--there's nowhere to steal more space from. The door to the left of the bathroom is the closet. The door at the bottom of the drawing is to the bedroom.

The "what do we do with area" between the shower and the toilet room is because the shower has to be deeper than the length of wall needed for the pocket door. (I figured we'd put a small door on it and I'd stash my drying rack in there).

The actual cabinet layout and widths are TBD. I want a long vanity with two sinks and two flanking full-height cabinets.

The two squares are skylights. The one on the right already exists, so we're thinking of not taking the toilet room walls up the height of the cathedral ceiling.

Things we want:

separate toilet room (will not compromise on this one)
large shower (prefer large enough for two shower heads)
expansive counter/sink area with flanking full-height cabinets
New doors at least 32" (we're not going to enlarge the existing closet door)

This is what we're thinking of--I'd love to have some feedback.

Are the skylights planned or are they already in place?

The skylights shown are not centered over anything so the symmetry of them is way off. Would bug me no end.

Why do you need two doors into this room -- where does the door on the left lead and where does the door on the bottom left lead and why is one opening in and the other out? If one leads to a clothes closet, then definite down vote on that -- bathroom smells and sounds and moisture heading directly into the closet is, from my personal perspective, a definite nope.

Do you plan one sink or two in your vanity?

What is across from the toilet in the niche set aside for that ... a second sink?

Is there an exterior wall ... Is there no way to put a window that can be opened in the room or are you planning an exhaust fan.

Note: the entire area is above crawl space and unfinished basement, so there's good access to move fixtures.

As is drawing is helpful ... but ... is that a hallway on the left currently between the two doors?

On which side of this space is the master bedroom?

The skylight on the right is already there, which makes placing a second one difficult.

The door on the left is to the closet--we like going from the bathroom to the closet without going back into the bedroom. We often get ready/go to bed at different times and it's less disruptive to the one sleeping. The closet (and its door) are already there.

The door on the bottom is from the bedroom.

The space across from the toilet is just cabinetry (stash toilet paper, cleaning supplies)

There is currently an exhaust fan and we'd probably keep it in the same place (but replace with something more powerful). The sinks are along the exterior wall; we weren't thinking of adding a window but that doesn't mean we wouldn't.

Definitely two sinks in the vanity.

Just some thoughts:

If you put the second sink in the space with the toilet (sometimes very practical, especially if you're sick and having prior meals coming out both ends) you'd be able to have more counter space.

If you put your toilet against the opposite/outside wall, you could put a small window in the exterior wall above it, likely saving the need for a more powerful exhaust fan or a second skylight.

If you forego that door to enter the closet directly from the bath, then you could put your large shower on the left side of the room and your toilet and a vanity/sink on the right with the entire space in between as your larger vanity/mirror w/his/her cabinets on each side.

If you put the door to the bathroom over to the right so that it opens beside the wall left of the toilet/sink room, when the door is opened, what you will see will be the vanity/mirror -- the toilet room (w/bifold door) would be "behind" the door to the bathroom.
