I recently moved to a new property in southwest Michigan. There are a number of trees surrounding the house that I am trying to identify. Of course I could wait until they leaf out, but one has somewhat unique seed pods that I thought someone might recognize and identify sooner. I will try to include a picture of both the pods and bark. Unfortunately, the pods are quite far out of reach for a close up.
