There is a wild one growing on my property here in East Texas. It is on a pipe line right of way that is almost pure red clay. I want to move it into a bed closer to my house, but am hesitant that it will die. It was blooming when I first noticed it. I had to get a college professor to ID it for me. Then I looked it up. Yes that is what it is.

Look for the seeds and try to start some nearby. Obvoiusly, it's found a place that it likes. Can you take a picture of it and include it in this posting. I've read about 2' to 3' tall. Have you ever tried to make tea from the leaves? Might be interesting to try, at least, once.

It is quite a way from my house so I go over there in the JD gator. I have it marked so as not to lose the location. It is dormant (I hope not dead) now. Just a naked gray little bush about 1 - 2 feet tall. I have watched it for 2 years since discovering it. There is a patch of tephorsia in the same area. It comes back every year. Both plants are just out of
reach of the pipeline mowers that make a swath through there yearly. There are herds of deer back there. I hope they do not like either plant. My location is east of Kilgore TX. The pipe line goes through mostly hardwoods and a few pines.. The plants are at the top of a hill that descends to a creek.
