Gathering table chair help!

I would appreciate anyone's advise as to what color of chair legs I should put with this gathering table (black metal base)? Should I try matching the stainless metal of the car stools, or doing a different metal or wood? Or change the bar stools out all together? TIA

Add some fabric........please. Linen : ) No reason to match the stools, which look great.

    OR........... MIX.....West Elm below

Thank you! I was definitely thinking a light grey fabric, my main concern is with the legs. Stainless? black metal or wood? I still want to keep the contemporary vibe, and still make sure that it all looks good together.

You could do wood frame in the color of the table top

Yes, trying to find the wood color with a light grey fabric has been a tough one for me.

You could also use all wood chairs, matching the table. I think you already have enough metal and hard objects in the room. Leather with wood legs is another option.

I love those West Elm chairs Jan! That’s what I would do. I wouldn’t introduce fabric into this room, it’s too cool and modern. Love it.

IMO a nice gray wool fabric would be perfect sort of like this

Grey fabric (something soft and to absorb some echo) with black legs. You have a sleek look, keep it sleek by staying curated with color and materials.

These would be yummy in your space:

That’s the black leg option with the Knoll silver velvet.

@JAN MOYER is that chair in the middle, grey with black legs from West Elm also?

Visuals of Jan’s chairs. I like the all gray one best, seeing them in the room (at first I liked the wood-backed one more):

ETA: Wanted to see how stainless legs would look .... I think the black looks better —

The live edge table is art, you may not want to include a chair comprised of any wood because it will look like the table’s less attractive sibling. Black legs, velvet or richly textured fabric ( tweed or slub linen ). I’m getting a modern/transitional Scandinavian vibe from what I see in your pics, which would call for some dimension, texture and a little “warmth” that is slightly quirky but elegant. Or maybe I just want this room for myself and I’m projecting ; )

thanks, I was thinking the same thing!

I agree with Lidia - if you can afford the Saarinen it's perfection for your space in the velvet with black wood legs.

I’m a bit OCD...I’m thinking the chair legs need to be squared off like your counter stools. Round tubing on furniture makes me gag, as it were made up of left over pipe and spray painted. I do like the layered aspect of the chair In the previous post, you’ll have to decide if it’s too fussy to be honest to the Aesthetic or just fussy enough.

Have you seen any examples of chairs that might look better? I definitely see what you are saying!

Thanks! If you know of any chairs like you are describing, I would love to see them! I definitely see what you are saying!

What is the distance BETWEEN the legs. Pay attention to that dimension, and chair width, or you will seat four, not six. Won't look as good, either.

here is with darker chairs, which also bring some color

Tie the colors in with the rest of the room and it will work, I think modern chrome legs, for upholstery a fabric that contains a hue of blue and black

Do you want to keep the Black & White? If so, I would pick up the grey in the painting, the chrome lights, bar stool and fixtures. for a leather and then shade dependent, legs of black to match the table legs or wood to match the table.

If this a not a stand alone room but connected to a living/family area I would choose a color from there to blend the two together . I like B/W rooms however they need a pop, if nothing more than a green plant.

Lots a GREAT choices at Room and Board www.roomandboard.com. Excellent quality and not overpriced. They have tables exactly like yours and their website also shows “pairing advice”. I’d start with them. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

So as not to distract from the table’s loveliness, we used simple modern black plastic chairs. Believe it or not, they are very sturdy and comfortable.

My favorites are the 1. grey ones from Jan Moyer, 2. Saarinen (yikes! on price though), and the top grey ones from Room and Board. Grey with black legs seem to coordinate the best with your decor. Good luck!

I don't personally like plastic or acrylic chairs. I think they look cheap. Any that I have sat in have not been particularly comfortable (except the patio adirondeck style), but perhaps that's because I am 62. I love the bar stools at the counter. Those legs tie in with the hood and faucets and really finish the area. The table is gorgeous and then some! The Saarinen chairs are ridiculously priced and you need 4-6 of them. I would reference them for looks and see what you can find at Wayfair or Overstock, both are .com. I've ordered from both and had wonderful results for much less money. Good luck with this!

I like a splash of color. I would do red leather or vinyl chairs with black legs. Then I would ad some red accessories around the kitchen. Not a lot just a few to bring in the color.

This is beautiful! I love the neutrals. I probably would add partially fabric, modern chairs from West Elm or Crate and Barrel. You can’t go wrong!

What a beuatiful room! How about cane chairs with chrome legs? I think the lightness and see-through quality of the chairs would complement your wonderful table. And your room could use some additional light; that's a perfect spot for it!

I have liked tgethe kind of legs for the chairs. The clourcloud is so beautiful and makes the entire room look nice👍
