I also debated that in my own kitchen. We have a farm sink so the face protrudes a bit and I didn't want to cut any further into the aisle. However I did bump out the range top and the pullouts on each side so that I would have more clearance for large stockpots on the back burners. It also gave me more space for the gas and electric behind the drawers and the counters next to the range top are a bit deeper which I like. No hip knocking has occurred.

What you describe, @wilson853, is a bump out with a purpose. It wasn’t just a design feature.

The OP asked if she should keep the bump out at the sink, for an “upscale” look. I still say the answer to that is, no. A bump out is not what makes a kitchen high end, or upscale. High quality, and tasteful finishings, and functional design, are the deciding factors.

P.S. Would you post a pic of your kitchen? I’m sure many of us would like to see it.

The bump out adds visual interest by breaking up a long line of cabinets.

I gnashed my teeth for weeks when my kd wanted to do this in my kitchen. She was right and I love it. Looks so nice and I have extra space for my faucet which would have been crowded with my window sill.

I did it at the cooktop for the same reasons wilson853 did, and I needed it. On your sink, I would lose the fluted corners, but otherwise keep it.

ILoveRed..how many inces is your beautiful kitchen sink base bumped out? I have a window ledge that protrudes out approx 3 inches, so I'm sure a sink bump out is in my future for same reason you did.

My sink base cabinet is only 2” deeper than the other base cabinets...it looks like. i looked under the sink and it appears this cabinet is built 2” deeper. my window sill/stool is deep enough that my faucet would not be fully functional without this extra space from the sink base depth. i suppose we could have skipped the sill but i like the finished look around the window.

i think it functional and pretty. but then what do i know, lol. my kd knew what she was doing. i trusted her.

And I have window sill pronounced like yours, which is why I asked. Same issue with faucet. one more question if you will...so how much does your sink protrude out from sink base? I looked at bunch pictures and your set up looks ideal to fit my needs.
