i have an allepo pine with roots 10's of feet long in my underground water tank that i don't have to water

and cottonwoods rooting in the leach pipe (hydroponics, only easier) that i don't have to water

it's over 100 all summer and freezes hard every winter and rains one inch/yr here

and i truck my water every day

the sewer cottonwoods win for sure

they look as good as they would if they were in PA

so does the allepo

the only answer to the chipmunks and rabbits and others here is hardware wire

ultrasonics, water sprayers, predator noise recordings, proximity alarms, uhm...

$8 proximity alarm shreeking like a smoke alarm worked so well it was carried off by coyotes

or something else...

It's a funny thing and you can ask any farmer. It's a war all year round with Nature wanting their share. It happens in the urban areas as well as the rural. There's a scene in the Incredibles where the kid has a fit and blows out the security fences...what happens, two squirrels run in. Doing your best only means your losing less....this time.

Now because I didn't do production but only used the tables for classes. Now the fish breed at anytime and the young were trapped in the filtration system and die. There was only a set number of fish that could live in the tank so every time we harvested them we had to buy new fish. By making a change in the first green drum we we able to capture the small fry. So when the adults where harvested there were small fry to take their place. Now the Sister setup was a stone bed and that change wouldn't work there. But there were plenty of young to go round with that small change. Something else If we were getting an abundance If you look to the end f the table that stuff hanging off is Mint. The young were placed into the table water and they would eat the roots of the Mint. At times it was race to see which would grow the fastest.

Yeah I know it's a complicated name but first it had other names trying to figure what I was seeing compared to what I was getting. An I want to say sorry for jumping your thread title but only did because of the vs on the end. It helped me expand more on the difference. One mix universal to all plants that you could grow any plant in. Turn out that it wasn't a mix at all...Just some bacteria. I don't want it to be so belittling But these small things are the basic interchange of all life. An Life has a cycle. Everybody understands the cycle of Spring to Winter. Life, Death and Regeneration. It was the regeneration that was the hard part. A closed environment that has very few inputs including water. But no waste water. That's important in a closed system. So Agro for grow ANY plant using Bio, Bacteria in a Water environment, Ponics. Yeah that covers it.
