I need some help with picking out drapes! Anyone have suggestions? Would like to bring in some other colors. Thank you.

Plain white... beautiful the way it is, don’t want to add keep it simple

Whatever you do go floor to ceiling to help disguise the way the mirrors are taller than the windows.

Yes we hung the mirrors with height of curtains in mind.

I agree that a simple white/cream drape will look great. Add your color with pillows and a pretty tray for the ottoman.

The issue I see is that the mirrors don't give you enough space to hang the drapes properly. Drapes look best when they are full and hung wide. There isn't enough room/return on the side of the windows to stack a full drape and they will cover the window and the trim.

I like the advice in this graphic. I don't think that drapes should be crammed against the ceiling but, in general, higher is better.

Wondering if I should just do a balance instead? A designer told us to hang the mirrors this way and I had the same concern of being tight. The curtains won’t be functional just for “looks”, finishing touch.

Can we see more of the room? All four walls.

Yeah, there's no room for curtains. You'd have to cover much of the window. Doesn't matter if they're stationary. Hanging one skinny panel next to such a wide window, will just look skimpy and more like a string hanging there. Plus it would be too busy with the mirrors. I agree, one or the other. No valance either.

I think the drapes would do more for you than the mirrors in that spot. Can you find another place to use the mirrors? It feels to me like the mirrors kind of overpower the space. Of course I'm not in it and it is totally up to you if you like it or not. Panels like lynartist showed would look great and finish up that side of the room nicely.

Yes cubby, now that I see the rest of the room the mirrors don’t really work imo!

Ok the mirrors... were a total pain to hang and everyone who comes over says the room is stunning...so probably not going to move them...plus I really have no where to put them.....what about replacing the blinds with roller shades to soften the room? Similar to this pic....I’ve never liked the blinds anyway. We just needed something up when we moved in a few years ago.

A dark midnight blue would work well, think it would add some drama to the room.

I know that the thought of removing something that was difficult to install is unappealing, but honestly, from a design perspective, the mirrors just don’t work in their current location. The good news is that they’re versatile and I can think of at least three or four ways to use them elsewhere.

As for the window treatments, if you want to keep the blinds, I’d probably do curtains on a traverse rod with a matching inverted box pleat valance on top. If you don’t want to keep the blinds, I recommend layering woven shades underneath curtains.
