Family Room Set Up

Please help me decide how to move forward with this room! I either leave the tv where it is and add espresso shelving on each side and add 3 more large frames across from the couch (3x2 frames) and do I get a console table?

or put the tv across from the couch and stack two large frames on either side of the fireplace. I can’t decide bc two things are important to me: 1. That I can really see the photos in the frames and 2. I like seeing the tv from my kitchen.

Also should I get a wooden coffee table or an upholstered one? I realize I need pillows and work on other things but first off I can’t decide where to put the tv and display my photos. Then need help with coffee table. Table pictured is my kids’ table I know it looks bad 😂.

pS For the past 5 years my couch was across from the window. It looks much cozier this way now.

More thoughts... have you given any thought to painting those two cabinets so that they aren’t such a stark white? I’ll have to find a picture... anyhoo, I think an upholstered ottoman (or upholstered cubes) would be a nice way to inject some personality into the room. Or you could go classic with a tufted cognac leather ottoman. One thing I would say is to offset the solid look of the couch and loveseat, perhaps you should do an ottoman with legs. Or some kind of ottoman with some structural personality. I’ve attached some examples.

I like the tv across from the sofa. Perhaps you could get it wall mounted on one of those tilt mounts so that you can adjust it and view the tv from the other room (tough to say—I don’t know the floorplan). I’m confused about the question about the pictures. Can you downsize the mats and frames in order to fit the trio into another spot?

My couches are mainly brown..,tried to show the fabric with other color stitching

I like pic with the tv away from fireplace best. I like the semetry you have with the matching built ins with single photo above each, less cluttered look. definitely check into swivel mount for tv if it will accommodate kitchen viewing.

BBBeyond has a wall displaying pillows with same fabric/style -- with mix and match colors. You could have 2 solid colors: trying teal and warm green.

for coffee table question, I feel this is a great place to add color or texture. if you get an espresso or dark wood table it would match but everything is so tan and brown. who doesn't love more storage? an ottoman or group of ottomans are so much more versatile. extra seating, storage and footrests to kick back in front of the TV. throw some coordinating pillows on couch and you've got it 👍

I like the TV on the console across from the couch. The only other place I would consider placing it is above the fireplace. I am not a fan of a television off to one side of a fireplace because I prefer symmetry in a room.

Unfortunately I just paid someone to paint those white because we painted the trim in our house white and I didn't know what else would work....

Nelly's blue wall paint -- thinking that in casual room it could be nice on fp wall's cabinets... chalk paint comes in many, and can be mixed, fun if there's time.

I see 5 black elements - if the cabinets remain white, it creates too much contrast... and the beautiful brick gets 'lost'....

I'd place tv across from sofa then.

I still think you could chalk paint for accent color - the shapes of the cabs are basic - nice with frames you showed, over a new color.

Related note - is the mantel high a bit? I'd chalk paint that a toasty color a bit softer than currently.
