Where are you imagining cutting out the tile for the shower? I’m not sure how that would need to work for waterproofing.

I think you’ll need to post pictures of the space showing more of the shower and how it fits in the surrounding space.

Is there something wrong with the existing that’s requiring a redo of the tiles?

I think that’s why they might be retiling only the shower.

Please post more overall room photos. It’s hard to get a sense of the room (even vanity wall and a plan would really help). Hard to say if the shower should be neutral or with an accent and where that accent should go. And yes the entire shower will need to be redone - not just the demolished wall.

You don’t retile you rip out and start again in a shower IMO if you can’t afford to do the whole thing at least keep what you do neutral if resale is in your mind later. Post pictures please. Sorry my computer did not show the pics the first time. Are you doing this because your shower has issues or for resale? If becuase you have leaks choose what ever is the cheapest. If resale just leave it because this will be a down to the studs redo by any buyer IMO

I can't imagine finding anything that is going to look good and not look like "oh, that shower had issues" The glass tile you posted would look out of place in my opinion.

Yes we are ripping out the rest of the shower and starting over. We had copper pipes burst and the shower had to be busted out to fix. Not moving. Maybe someday so it does need to look good. But to redo the walls and floors would be too expensive right now. Plus my floor continues to the laundry room and kitchen so where do you stop. Anyway, I would not use glass subway tile. Was just wondering about that color and look with regular subway tile. Or should I do a larger honed tile like the other one I posted.

Thought if I pull out the blue it would look intentional.

Looking at the shower I see you have the one wall ripped out. Do they all need to be removed or could tiling just that plumbing wall be an option? Then I would find a tile in the darker brown trim tile color and just do that one wall.

I hate to go darker but I guess an option. just figured it will look better than trying to match. I already looked everywhere for a match for the lighter color but not finding anything the right color and size

I’d take a bit of the tile you took out to match the travertine look.

Or if it’s a good match now that I look closer do the whole shower in it. It will look like the trim tile around tub is a small version of the larger tile in the shower.

If you decide on the blue. I would look for something soft and not shiny with some soft variation to stay in the Tuscan style.

You will still need to re do the floor as well as the wall waterproofing needs to tie into the floors waterproofing. Tough to do one without the other properly.

Don't try to get an almost match to your existing tile. It will scream that it doesn't match. I say NO to the blue. A very dated look. Remove the existing wallpaper and paint the walls a creamy white. Then get a creamy subway tile that's inexpensive, or a creamy 12 x 12 (whatever size is on the floor) and call it a day.

That’s not a bad idea. They had to rip a lot of the paper Anyway and it’s also 17 years old. I just still like it. So the leak was not in shower. We repipe the entire house with Pex and they needed to get in this shower wall. Obviously insulation, hardy back water proofing will be done. is love to redo Everything moder and white with quat counters and new mirrors etc. just can’t spend that much after repipe.

Why not just for now do a shower insert no tiling needed and then when you can afford it gut the whole thing to the studs.

So ripping it all out including what’s in the outside wall and the wallpaper. Now what to use. Keeping the floor
