Generally, if your paint is going to take up a majority of the room, it is best to use a neutral color, like whites, creams, tans, and even subtle yellows. You won't want people coming in and being shocked by a bright red or purple! What kind of room is this going in?

Get some sample charts and hold them up and see which ones really appeal to you. Once you do that, get some sample paint and put on poster paper and move it around the room, in all sorts of light, and narrow it down. You may like a bit more color than browns, tans, grays and whites, which can actually look pretty bland and boring, unless you have some nice colorful accessories to brighten things up.

megs1030, I spoke with our code enforcement officer from our township and he said there is no reason why the shiplap can’t be used as a backsplash. As a matter fact, we could even use drywall if we want to. And our township is pretty strict with its regulations. As long as it has three coats of latex paint on it, he said that is sufficient for fire retardant.

Hi Wentz! Those color suggestions from meg look good. I did want to also suggest a more greige color that I used in my last house, SW Modern Gray which was more greige but really lovely. Similar to accessible beige, but somehow I liked Modern Gray more.

This is the color I am considering using. It is called Kalamazoo by C2 paint. What do you think?
