Room ventilation Issue(Help)

I recently saw a wasps nest in the air vent so I am opening up each air vent and cleaning them out and in one of the vent I see this. i am not sure if maybe the ventilation hose wasn’t connected tightly and it fell off or if this is a bad build. we recently bought the house few months ago and noticed a flow issue. Does anyone know if its either connection fell or if indeed when they remodeled they did a bad job and now I am having to hire someone to fix it?

Its impossible to tell from a picture. I would hire someone to come and check it out. It may not even be connected to anything.

That's weird. It almost looks like someone stuffed an old towel in there or something. I take it this is a heat register for a forced air furnace?

Looks like either a shoddy contractor who didn't complete putting in all the duct work, or an incomprehensible hack by a former owner. In either case, it's not right and needs to be fixed. Call in a professional: it may not be the only weird thing in the duct work that needs to be addressed.
