Glass Sheet Kitchen Backsplash

After months long search, I am getting more and more interested in using glass sheet for my recent remodeled modern kitchen backsplash. I do have two questions. Hopefully I could get inputs from folks on this forum to help with the decision.

1. From photos I saw, glass sheet back splashes definitely deliver the minimalist look I want to achieve. Since I have never seen one in real life, I wonder if it is practical. I worry if by accident, one small area gets damaged, it would be expensive to replace the entire backsplash. Unlike using porcelain tiles, it only needs to replace a small section.

2. I have trouble finding a local company that makes and installs glass sheet back splashes. I called a few glass/mirror stores but could not find anyone that does it. I would appreciate if any one could share information of a source that is located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Thanks in advance for the inputs.

The wall needs to be FLAT behind it. Or it can crack. It should be templated, then tempered. That has to be very accurate. A specialty glass company used to working with designers is where to find it. Find the Kitchen Designer first. It’s not inexpensive.

I've had it for five years. No damage at all and it looks great. You do need real pros to do the jnsrpyall.

I've had mine for 4 years and there have been zero issues. This is the Chicago company who did mine - https://www.glassworks.net/evanston-glass-backsplash/ I LOVE it! It's called back painted glass and if you didn't have outlets and switch cut outs, my local glass shop said they could have done it no problem - it's the cutting and templating of the tempered glass that's tricky.

Many thanks to the inputs, the photos of your already installed backsplashes are all wonderful, I love them all.

I do not have a designer, it is a long story long.....sigh! I did more google searches, but could not find one single company local that does the work. I also thought about using acrylic for durability, again, no company local does it.

Enclosed are photos of the space I am planning to add backsplashes. I like to use the same color as the current paint color. The area is not very big at all. The key is to find a company....or may be search for a new designer......

Most competent glass shops should be able to handle this project. I would call them they may not advertise back-splashes as they are not all that common.

@User - I didn't use the glass behind my stove because I was worried. As you see, I put a piece of stainless up. A metal shop cut it for under $100. Prob the cheapest thing I did. lol

I love love love mine. I have had it about 2.5 years with no issues. I had a very hard time trying to find someone to do it, but another poster here told me about a local company here in Michigan, and they were amazing to work with. The company I used has partnerships in various areas around the country. I just talked with one of the owners a couple of days ago because we're thinking of using it in our shower, and he was telling me about how the work with companies in other areas and work with them. I would highly recommend them if they have something in your area. The company is Imagio glass design. On their website, you will see many different types of designs, but they do plain solid colored back painted glass as well. Also, they told me than it is not likely to get damaged, but if it does, they have stored all of the info for each sheet, so they would just be able to produce a new one without having to template etc all over again It is a breeze to keep clean, always looks good.

Sue, Thank you so much for the information.

Your kitchen is beautiful, and I like what I see on the Imagio Glass Design website. I just contacted the company, I hope they would be able to find a company in our area to do the work. I will post when I hear back from them.

Lukerlisa, Your kitchen is gorgeous. I too thought about using a steel panel behind the cook top, but I want to implement this option only if I have to, as I would like to keep the minimalist look by using as few elements as possible.

stillpitpat, Thank you for the comment, I hope so too.

Some friends and neighbors said my kitchen is too sterile, too boring, too simple, too...etc. I totally agree if the kitchen is theirs, but this is my kitchen of my taste and is within my budget. I like it just fine.
