Pls provide a pic, it doesn't sound normal. I'd also check pix of mealy bugs & see if that matches what you have.

I think maybe the plant is just maturing

Many plants have, as part of their normal morphology, adaptive appendages (trichomes) that form on leaves and/or herbaceous stems. Depending on their form and function, there are more than 20 botanic adjectives used to describe these appendages. The trichomes on your plant would be described as 'pubescent', which isn't on the list except as a variation of 'puberlulant' (#14)

FWIW - the plant is toxic to cats.

Sounds like it helps control transpiration and temperature for the most part. My tomato plants grow the same little "hairs", just maybe not as long or dense.

As a side note, I don't know how I've gone so long consistently reading trichRomes with an extra R until I read Al's post, but here we are 😂

As Tiffany noted, it would be best to see an image of the entire plant, including the pot, and a close-up of what you're describing, i.e. if you're looking for information more reliable than a SWAG.

If 'the fuzz' you're seeing is a normal part of your plant's morphology, it's because the plant is genetically obligate to grow these appendages. If what you're seeing are random patches of what looks like cotton, it could be a mealybug infestation; or, it might be fungal in nature, though it doesn't sound like it. All we know at this point is, we're not seeing what you're seeing, which obviously limits our ability to help.

If that matches the asked-about fuzz, yes, it's normal.

It is just natural and no disease whatsoever.
