What’s the other side like?

I guess with a little thought the cabinets and counter could have been done to end at the same place but now I need to see the whole wall my gut say to the end of counter.

Counter for sure in this case. Ideally a nice trim piece along all edges will look more thoughtful rather than raw, rough tile hanging out there in space.

Here's a couple of extra images of the wall. You can see why this was centered due to window above sink. All other cabinets are aligned wall to base.

i'm going to say to the corner. It looks like the cabinets don't butt-up to the window, and I'm assuming you're going to tile to the window. I think by going to the corner, you'll will be giving your eye a smooth line to follow.

I would tile the entire wall, since the cabinets are centered and you have nice reveals on both sides of window, go to the ceiling around the window and on the end, it will be dramatic and gorgeous.

There are very few times that backsplash tile should go past the upper cabs. This is not one of them. End it at the upper cab.

The backsplash relates to the lower cabinet and the counter, not the upper cabinets. For a lower cabinet centered on a wall under a narrower upper cabinet, the backsplash should be the width of the lower cabinetry.

The backsplash relates to the upper cabinetry in that it generally covers the space enclosed by the upper cabinetry and lower cabinetry (upper cabs usually don't extend further than lower). If you extend it past the upper cabs, it ends up looking like some of your tile has "escaped" and has no where to go. Of course, just like many issues of kitchen design, this is a matter of personal preference. In the last few years with more DIY, it has become more common for tile to extend past upper cabs.

Run it to the corner and go to a tile store and get a pencil piece of tile to put from the upper cabinet to the wall.

What would you do if there were no upper cabinets? That’s what you should do here because, as felizlady noted, the backsplash is an extension of the countertop.
