Lower cost 36" range ?

My mother-in-law's range has died. It was a 36" Kenmore. She rather steadfastly wants another 36", ideally with a single large oven, 4 burners and a griddle though the griddle is quiet optional.

Is anyone aware of anything decent for around $2k or less?

Can't help you with any specific recommendations, unfortunately. But I did notice that you forgot to mention whether this is supposed to be gas, electric, induction, or dual fuel. You'll probably get better responses if you clarify that point. Good luck.

Nope. If you went with a 30" range you'd have a lot more choices including non-gas.

36 is a thing. 97 year old Swedish women can be stubborn. :-)

At 97 years of age, I'd put my foot down and insist she get an induction range. Physical and mental abilities can deteriorate much more suddenly than most of us would like to admit. And in that scenario, gas is a much higher risk.

I agree that any kind of change and learning curve is tricky at that age. But induction is the closest you can come to an experience that is similar to gas. And there are induction ranges that look and feel familiar. Unfortunately, it'll be harder to find those in 36" wide.

Those last 6" inches are expensive. Hard to get under $2,000, and even under $3,000 is mostly brands I don't know much about. She'll have better options in 36" with filler panels.
