Remove the shutters, I would get a front door with some glass or paint the door and the sidelight frame all one color like a soft gray green might be nice. I agree landscaping will be the thing that brings the most curb appeal.

Yes, remove the shutters and beef up the window trim. Paint the downspouts to blend with the brick.

With or without shutters, landscaping is what will make or break this one. Get a pro to develop a plan you can install over time.

None of the above posters show any talent without spending a lot of money. Keep the shutters and find a color you like and paint them, along with the front door. Your front landscaping is fine, trim your bushes a little and work on the interior first. Then if you want to add some hardscape to the front do it after. Nice home, congrats.

How about a rendering without shutters. And paint the door and sidelights to create an entryway focal point.

I like the contrast when the shutters are a dark color, black or charcoal. Or what about a dark red. I think it would look nice with the color of the brick. Paint companies have color palettes that are traditional for exteriors. I would try those first. But if you want to think outside of the box... you could do anything, especially when you are not going to sell it. It’s your house do what you want

Cute homestead. A little tweaking without a huge bundle of money? I think as a safety issue I would consider a step that runs the length of your current one. Widen the walkway with pavers or soldiering dark brick along walkway. It would bring focus to your front entrance to whitewash or paint brick of entrance only . Hang new large front porch fixtures on each side of door side lights. Personally, I like the shutters maybe a color change to raisin or carriage brown with a french blue or coral door. It's just paint, right? Love the landscaping ideas. Landscaping is always a good investment. Good luck.

I’m no pro, but if this was my house, I’d paint the shutters and door black, and add a potted plant to each side of the door. Your landscaping is clean and low-maintenance...not sure I’d change it, except trimming.

Dark charcoal or black shutters and door look best and will do the trick. Potted plants good idea and will at to landscape already there.

I had actually considered a blue door because of the “Blue Devils” mascot at the local school, but I think it doesn’t have quite the appeal I thought it would. I do love the pop of color though! I love the gorgeous landscaping but think I’ll go a little more low maintenance. What is the name of your design studio program celerygirl? It’s fabulous! I’ve received so many awesome ideas. I didn’t realize when I posted about a black front door that you don’t like your “black hole” door. Red would be very nice, as others have said.

My vote for front door is still blue. I had in mind a pale blue when I said ”French blue” ...more like a robins egg. Interested in seeing updated pictures post paint.

Here’s the finished project. (New roof was replaced recently but I couldn’t find a pic when I originally posted) We went with SW Attitude grey in satin for the shutters and door. Replaced the front door light fixture too. I think it turned out great! We’re very pleased with the look. Now to tackle the landscaping! I’m ordering some landscape lighting tonight.

Black or charcoal would traditional shutter colors for your brick. If you want blue or green go with dark muted shades like navy or a hunter green. black shutters with a bright door color could add contrast. Plan your landscaping colors with whatever paints you choose.

Here were the color names from Pinterest. Attitude grey appears much lighter on the house in person than in the swatch or can. Sunny days help 😊
