Design help needed for main bath

All of these decisions are becoming overwhelming! We are renovating our main bathroom, which is our only full bath. Our house was built in 1971 and still has the original coated steel tub, and original built in vanity.

So far, I think we have settled on a line of fixtures, Brizo Rook, in either Chrome, or the nickel black combo in my collage. We preferred the wide spread handles, but are thinking about getting a vanity from Costco which has a single hole. Studio Bathe Taylor For the vanity, we are leaning towards the white, or the light grey which is not pictured on the website (only shows white and dark grey)

For the tub, I was thinking maybe Acritec Amana or Acritec Robson Pure. The doors are Fleurco Opus Motif.

For tile, I’m all over the place! U

For the walls:Maybe the textured white tile from my collage, maybe the grey marble...

For the floor, I’m not sure if the black and white tile would go with any of this. Otherwise maybe a solid 8” hex, or a square patterned ceramic??

Anyone have any thoughts?

Too fussy in general. Where is the picture of the existing bath? How old are the kids, if any? Do you NEED a tub, or could a shower suffice? Not enough info, and too over wrought a design selection. Traditional is fine....... but a lot simpler : )

Show the existing space and an accurate drawing with dimensions helps as well.

What style is your house? The bathroom should be compatible.

Which choice is the most important? If you have too many ideas, start with the one that’s critical to you. So far, like many of us, you’ve fallen I love with a lot of ideas and are trying to get them all into one small space. If it’s the hardware, start with that. Or the vanity.

The white tile is 8x24 and also comes in a plain white with no texture which I was also considering.

we could keep the 2 toned rook but swap the black door for nickel (as the rook has both) or switch them both to chrome and save quite a bit of money.

i would have said the hardware was more important but it was difficult to find a vanity we could agree on that was in our budget AND wouldn’t take 2 months to get. Options are more limited here.

    To answer the earlier questions:

House is boring 70’s style, mostly rubbed bronze finishes to match original hardware.

    Room is used regularly by 3 adults (51, 48 & 24), which occasionally jumps to 6 adults (77, 76 &21)

yes we need a tub, and it needs to be shallow enough for seniors to get in, but deep enough for an enjoyable soak, with a comfy slope.

You are trying to cobble together a look meant for luxury, ( you will have dated faucet and fittings in two years ) in a big hurry and on a budget. It never works. Concentrate instead on a trip to a Loews or Home Depot, for a more custom vanity, left side unfinished. Do it in white, you will many options for a 60 inch single bowl . Stick to chrome for faucet and bath fittings. It's less expensive , has more options in styling. Is......forever !! Want black? Change the mirror to a free hanging, thin black frame. Use matte black hardware on the cabinet, and add some black lighting. Hooks or towel bars? Fine. Select a charcoal porcelain tile floor......white tub, and repeat the floor tile on tub walls, or use a large white subway and DON'T grout in any dark. I would do frameless glass, but if you must have black? Fine.

Wow. Jan just gave you an excellent total design! I also like the above photo with the black framed mirrors, black octagon tiled floor and brass fittings.

The hex tile in Jan’s photo is very similar to my second choice for floor tile, I just didn’t include a photo in my collage as the sample is in the back of my husband’s car. It’s a grey hex, but a bit bigger of a tile, I think it is either 7 or 8 inches? I will try to get a photo when he gets home. Wouldn’t the white grout be an issue to keep clean, especially on the floor of the only full bath?

Lowe’s and Home Depot are quoting very long wait times for semi custom vanities, otherwise we would have gone with them. Otherwise we will need to bump the contractor back significantly which may not work for him.

Remodel in haste, repent at leisure. You lived with it this long? A few more months will not mean the end of the world. No to Costco for a vanity. Delay it SIX months, save more money. .......in the wait : ) You are going to live with the result a lot longer than that. You are rushing. Bad Idea.

Nobody said you have to grout in white. : ) tone the grout to the tile.

We are pretty sure we have a leak around the tub, but another option would be to work with the existing vanity for now, that should be relatively easy to replace later? I think a paint job and some new hardware would help a lot. I am leaning towards the grey hex for the floor, white tile in the shower, and probably the chrome for longevity, even though hubs prefers the two tone.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Happy to hear any and all opinions.

Fix the leak. Save the vanity replacement until later. Certainly do not let it drive the remo. All you will get in a hurry is J.U. N. K.

I’m curious if this gets better feedback?

The vanity is by Stonewood, and we would probably go with the Pewter (dark grey) top (as they didn’t have many options that went with the white vanity and grey marble tile).

We were thinking the grey marble tile (Euro-Tile Garda Grigio) for both the floor and tub surround, as recommended above to use the same tile on both.

Switched the door and Brizo Rook to chrome as suggested. I would consider changing out the Rook but fixtures confound me 😂 We would like thermostatic, and we can have higher flow here in Canada.
