Only Good experience I use them for my hot peppers and tomatoes

Lots of people use them and love them. I used them up north with very good results. Now, down south, am afraid of a mega algae problem, because they are always damp, so am avoiding them. But some still use them in the south too.

I tried them 2 years ago with mixed results. I planted indeterminate tomatoes in 7 gallon fabric pots & these raised beds. Same varieties, same age (raised from seeds), and the same amount of sunshine. I lined the sides of the fabric pots with large garbage bags to help hold in the moisture. The plants in the fabric pots were still hard to keep moist and I don't know if that was the reason they didn't do as well or if it was some other factor. They weren't even half the size of the ones in the raised beds and production was also greatly reduced.

On the other hand, I planted eggplants & ground cherries in the 3 & 5 gallons pots and they did fantastic!! The plants were very happy and production was great. I also lined the inside with garbage bags to help with moisture control and they were still hard to keep the dirt moist; but those plants didn't seem to care.

If you put plastic inside the pots, it's not a true test of how they work.

I liked them for flowers and for veggies. Last year it was very wet all summer so the ones I used got green on the outside. I tossed them at the end of the season, dead plant and all. The year before I grew flowers in a Bloem brand cloth one and they worked well for flowers. I liked that I could water the bag for bottom watering. The felt ones are cheaper, disposable ones. Try a few if you are limited on space in ground. They are lightweight and easy to turn to the sun for even growth.

In hot weather, it is so so hard to keep the dirt moist! Even after lining the pots with bags, I could not keep the plants from drying out.

I grew tomatoes in 25 gallon Smart Pots for many years quite successfully. These are inside Texas Tomato cages and grew 7-8 feet tall. In southwest Ohio during July and August, I had to water every other day. That said, I started growing them in a raised bed garden last year and was amazed at how much more productive they were. I used a soaker hose to water them which saved a lot of hard labor onmy part.

I was curious about these too. After reading many comments have decided to not bother.
