I'm looking to paint the walls of our basement while the kids are out from school social distancing. There's a vinyl/linoleum floor, and a vinyl baseboard on three walls of brick and one wall of drywall. It's all from the previous owner, but I'm not sure how old it is. It could be pre-'80s.

I pulled off some of the baseboard to find some brown adhesive on the brick and drywall. Is this save? Could there be asbestos in old brown adhesive for the vinyl baseboard? See photo. Thanks!
