older leaves die, it's normal.

it does need some sun-light: part-sun for 3-4 hours, weak. so eastern or western early/late sun. otherwise the leaves will have much less variegation (what you are seeing).

Does that pot have a hole in it?

Pretty plant! I think it needs more/better light to maintain better color. I usually keep my plant lights on for 15 hours. And agree that it's normal for older leaves to die like that.

I have this plant. It’s leaves will occasionally do this, usually the bottom leaves, and new ones grow from the top. Mine in my sunroom with lots of indirect light, although it’s been a cloudy gloomy winter this year it still looks nice. It’s up close to large north & east facing windows. It has more color with more light, but not in full sun as the leaves can burn. Mine bloomed continually this past summer. Sometimes there can be premature shedding of some of its leaves if kept to wet or if it’s to cold. Make sure the soil drains well and doesn’t stay soggy. I started another from a small stem i accidentally broke off. I’m enclosing pics of mother & baby to show the color. I hope this helps. It’s one of my favorite easy to grow houseplants!

@Karen S. (7b, NYC) Yes, it does have drainage holes but it also has an attached saucer. I think I need to start tipping the pot in the tub like an hour after I water it, so it has less sitting in the bottom. I try not to give it too much at once because I am mindful of the saucer and standing water, but that extra step might just do it.

Anyone know why my leaves are getting so “pale” ?? It used to be vibrant like the photo above. The leaves are also getting much less firm.
