That is a really cool tile. Even at that price, it doesn't seem like a budget buster to me. How big is your backsplash?

Daltile is one of the most economical tile suppliers in the market today. I've seen designs like that priced out at triple or quadruple this. You might try a ProSource in your area for the bargain basement pricing, but even their suppliers will likely not beat this Daltile pricing on an intricate design. If you like it this well, is there any chance, as others commented, of still using it but maybe reducing the area or making a sacrifice elsewhere to fit it in the budget?

Daltile quote is $80/sq ft. The total for this tile would be $3200. I need to stay under $1200 to be on budget.

It's very pretty but it's got so much grout I think it would be a mistake if you cook like I do.

Lovely but likely you won't find that intricate design for much less, although you might find a simpler design. I'm sure you've looked at the tilebar site, specifically their waterjet mosaics (link below). That being said, this particular mosaic wouldn't actually classify as a waterjet as the pieces are not interlocking (regardless of how they were fabricated), and something you might want to consider. Look closely at your photo. There is a LOT of grout as they do not fit closely together. Look at it here:https://www.daltile.com/product/Lavaliere?color=Calacatta-Gold&shape=Windblown They probably come on a mesh backed sheet with a good deal of spacing between them = grout. For a backsplash? Would you really want that much grout? Just a consideration. A typical waterjet mosaic would be fabricated with less space and therefore less grout, like this one from Akdo (plume series):

But it is $$$$. Hence, my suggestion that you look for a simpler organic design. Good luck with your project.

Could you use it as more of a statement piece by using it in one area? And using simpler tiles around it?

Oh my y'all have been SO HELPFUL! Thank you for pointing out the grout issue. We do cook a lot and you are so right this would end up being a disaster! I LOVE the waterjet mosiacs! Now that you have me thinking in this direction, there are similar patters available at the local Floor & Decor for $20/SqFt that would suite well. Our house has original Arabesque lantern tile in the baths and I might look for an updated lantern in a narrow grout marble.
