your best bet might be to pot them up for the year.. and try to grow them to some size.. before you free them to mother nature ...

are they already in the woods.. or in garden beds where you can war and feed them ...

hosta are very care free ... other than water in drought ... but at this size .... they could use the encouragement ...

Great! I have potted up a bunch of yellow blooming wild azaleas that rooted in the woods mulch today so I will pot up these little hosta tomorrow and start a nursery in my pot garden. This was going to be the year that I get my pot garden planted somewhere in the yard but I just can't seem to stop adding to it.

Are there deer in your woods? If so, you might be sending them to their death if you put them out there. If you have lots of deer, it might be better to give them away to gardeners once they get big enough to show their character.

Luckily we don't have hardly any deer. I will see some down crossing the main road, a mother and twins or a buck occasionally but they don't come up to our yard. They would have a major buffet if they did. I live on a 1 lane gravel road that is about 1/2 mile long with a total of 7 homes all the rest is woods and some pasture. The few deer we have are usually killed on the 2 lane that our road turns off from.
