basic, no frills kitchen needs some style

Dark stained cabinets, black/stainless appliances. Nothing is going to be changed. Possible traditional or country French. Opinions? If a lost cause say so and I will delete the whole idea! LOL!

    Love the ideas!
I put the Goose Girl over the grey/white dove/tree chair.
Still love the rectangular chandelier! Top of my list.

    Hansen
Thank you for the source for dark country French kitchens! Will definitely look at them!
Deb loved the wood chandelier! Mark Hampton and his daughter, Alexa Hampton are my design absolute faves. She uses subtle chandeliers similar to the carved wood one you showed with the rustic leather sofa. It appeals to me but is it too similar to the one I have now?
Also I used to know how to post pic to HOUZZ but out of touch now. How do you post site pics. Give me a hint please?

Early morning here and this room faces due west so poor pic! Will try for 1:00PM when better light from skylights!

Accent color would be a warm bronze, gold as these colors are in the print chair as pale bronze or grey or soft aqua or French blue. See pic. Also soft gold in valance pics!

    Cloudy day by noon light!

Art and chair have similar vibe... is the chair embroidered at all?

On valance fabric - I see you like soft edges / watercolor-y.

Quite a difference between the chunky/ curvy wood chandelier, and the other....Idk what the rectangular really looks like - is it too contemporary?... do you wonder, cause there are others of same shape...

The chair fabric is not embroidered. The fabric was given to me by a friend/designer. It is a Schumacher production/design in charcoal and cream and there was only 2 yards. The chair is from Costco 20 years ago. I had it upholstered last year! Love it!
I like both Chandeliers, and have the same thoughts as you!
I am going to finally look up Dark Country French Kitchens as suggested by Hansen.
Drove to daughters house this afternoon, staying for a week to work on her basement. Brought my paint clothes lol!

Keep well, and safe on ladders. ;)

Well it usually ends up my daughter and hubs and granddaughter do the basement and I keep up with the kitchen and food.....win\win!

Was at home depot today and not inspired by the lighting display......I think CV19 is getting to me in moment here and there. Must be good to be away from my house and all the little niggly things I think are crummy, when I have just been looking at them too long and they need to be replaced? lol

Susan, it's another reality with so many changes. It's disorienting in a way to stop a regular life....

    Thanks! I needed that insight!

Yes, it's hard. And can be when ya watch too much news. My hubby at times seems glued to the tube, and so I hear it way too much. I sit in LR and involve myself with overdue sorting/cleaning -- old toy box, and old files...

Are we married to identical twins???? Lol
I attack my self mentally when even thinking about interior design when so many people are dying. But at the same time interior design is distracting me from the mess!

Lucky me! I do not know anyone who has died in my social group.....so that is good, but then you wonder, but other people are randomly dying!
Grocery workers are dying in the last week. My daughter is a Store Manager in Training at HEB in Austin TX, so that is on my mind
too. So far her store is clean! And she has regular days off. But she says it is Crazy Busy! And yes I did clean closets etc this last week while Hubs filled me in on EVERYTHING. I appreciate it, but still....l am laughing now at this inane post! Thanks for listening!

oh.. and ya know, it's ok how a person feels and reacts - true with everyone - many variations in our contacts, and where they work, and if we know of someone who's sick... I also don't know of anyone who's sick from it. I just enjoyed a walk in the rain, and I was better off afterward.... so we clean, we dream, but I can't make it to my fitness club to swim, and I miss it. I also feel funny posting about myself.... it's a "no worry" okydoke… :)

    Thanks! So much! Appreciate it!

    Deb,

All thumbs today; but have checked out Ballard Design Chandeliers......any appeal to you?

    Thanks!

Nice can add textured shades, bright LED's - has warm metallic rubbed on. Basic shape, and the black has a connection with island and frig ! - they're not awful. Size idk.

Customers' photos showed ok with rectangular...??

    Question?

What size should a chandelier be for the correct scale in the room and over the table.

    Breakfast room area if 10 x 12.

Table is oval, Italian Provencial, with mahogany/cherry finish, 42" wide, between 76-120 inches long with leaves in place, shown at 96". See pictures at top of post.

up thread you showed this pic of a dining room and chandy that you liked... also a link to a chandy on wayfair that I thought you might like. I like it because its light feeling and thought your dining area could use some lighter feeling touches. thought it also was very natural feeling, reminds me of branches of a tree

Enchanting! I can see it over my table, easily. A bit of sparkle in the rose gold and brightness in the LED’s. Will certainly consider it! 🙏!

I love the lacy feel of the chandelier. Will definitely consider it. We just bought a really big TV and installing cabinets around it; there might be a reflection problem with screen and any hanging lights; I will need to address that before we decide. Details, details! Lol.
