Callback That Wasn't

I installed this sink several weeks ago:

Before

After

My customer called to say that he is getting new countertops and that the template sub contractor for the top fabricator told him my sink was off and had to be fixed before the tops could be fabricated and installed.

My sink is not "off", nor is it out of square. The positive perimeter reveals are damn near perfect.

Yes, the left reveal (the distance between the countertop edge and the front of the sink) is larger on the left than it is on the right. That is because the countertop edge is not parallel with the cabinets. My sink must be installed parallel with the cabinets, not the top. If I pulled the right side forward to make matching reveals, the apron return would not touch the cabinet on that side, creating a gap. Not on my job.

The template sub is supposed to call me today. I will explain to him that he needs to template his remodels the same as new construction which is to template to the cabinet front and add the desired overhang, keeping cabinets and top edge parallel. He can't template to crooked tops and blame it on me.

Whippersnapper. I should charge him tuition.
