Help Me Divide my Bromeliad Pups please!

I have a bromeliad, which I believe to be the variety of a variegated fireball neoregalia, even though it's not very pinkish/red right now:

I've had it for 2.5 years and never split any of its pups. I want to work on splitting or re-potting some of it, but I'm a little confused about what constitutes a pup on this plant or how to best split or re-pot some of it. In the pot, there are 3 main "plants" that things are splitting off from:

Then, on those 3 "mother" plants, which don't necessarily seem totally dead (?) there are these spindly dry pieces coming off of them.

And then even sometimes a new spindle coming off of a spindle coming off of a spindle!

Is EVERY SINGLE "spindle" a pup? Like those are 3 pups I'm holding in my hand above?!

I'm trying to figure out if I should just split up those three "main" plants and pot them all separately, or if I should be pulling apart every individual pup to replant as well.

Thank you for any advice you may have!!!

I understand that I should plant pups in some 1/2 orchid bark, 1/2 peat moss in a small pot.
