Hello! I was wondering if it's possible to grow a Baobab tree in southwest Florida. I'm in Naples Florida for reference and I right now have a potted Baobab. Thanks for any advice!
wow! I had no idea that they could grow in zone 9! Im pretty close to the Everglades, but maybe where I live won't be too wet??? not sure. I'll have to see what happens to the spot I want to put it in after the wet season.
Baobabs will grow in south FL, they just need sun and well drained soil. They will die quick with swampy or waterlogged soil. There are quite a few sizable Babobabs around SoFL. Awesome specimens in Fairchild Tropical Gardens, The Kampong, Selby Gardens, downtown Hollywood, at the corner of Griffin and US1 in Ft. Lauderdale, etc. Disney has also planted a few in Animal Kingdom and the AK Lodge.
