Name That Plant!

What is this yellow/purple root?

I was removing some privet shrubs when I came across a yellow and purple striped root. It was about 4 inches diameter. Does anyone know what it's the root of?
There are oriental bittersweet and winter creeper vines in the yard and black cherry, mulberry, Japanese maple trees.
I'm in the greater Boston area.

It’s an April fools plant? Very common this time of year ;-)

If it seems much longer than the part uncovered so far then one end will be pointing to the plant it came from.

That would scare me. fwiw, my oriental bittersweet had bright orange roots.

I found this same root today under my front lawn. I have an acre, and know the neighbouring yards well. No mulberries.
