okinawa spinach

Anyone know anything about this stuff? Very heat-tolerant green, I understand. I cannot find a source of seeds. Everyone is selling (expensive) rooted cuttings. What's the deal?

I hear tell that the plants don't set seed, and that flowers are sterile. Um, so where do the plants come from in the first place? It's also frost intolerant, so although it is formally a perennial, using it that way might be challenging.

I believe this is related (gynura genus) to "Longetivity Spinach".
