djacobz..your day will come!..I was out for hours today..it was beautiful..I saw more hosta leaves!..I was wondering if your surgery is postponed..if so I'm sorry..I know that's disappointing..

Beth..yes what a treat!..when I saw the "moved last fall" Clausa coming up I was mad at myself..I should've worked harder and moved more of them..hopefully this year I can do it..

Not to worry, Clausa will move itself. This hosta spreads by underground runners, and it's really very invasive. At some point you will find yourself ripping it out by the handful and vengefully tossing it on the compost heap. Where it may take root and proceed to overrun the compost heap.

If you try to dig it out, you will find that a tiny piece of root or runner left in the ground results in a new plant. It is great for steep slopes that need ground cover, but it does not play nicely with other hostas in a garden situation, it will throttle any hosta up to medium size.

dhaven..I know!..years ago I thought I was planting a pair of these..one on each side of the path..now they're in my path with 5 by 5 foot sections on each side of the path!..I have half an acre and I'll plant them in back as groundcover..I guess I need to be tougher and sacrifice some in the future instead of planning to "move them someday"..

Nicholsworth-Just pips here-the lancifolia are the first up and they are doing well. I am hoping to get outside later in the week to start working on the backyard! We've been doing things around the house that have needed to be done. We just got done turning my DH junk room into an office!
