It’s beautiful Matt! Congratulation!

Hamlin is an old variety. It iwas a chance seedling found in 1879 By A.C.Hamlin, and thus is named after him. Hamlin is more cold hardy than most oranges, and is very widely grown in Florida as a juice orange. It should make you a nice tree.

It gave me 4 small oranges in it's first year of growing. Is that them starting to ripen?

It looks like it. My Meyers are looking the same.

I would very much like to know how you like the fruit once it's ripe and you can eat them.

Well today I picked the first one. I was doing some reading on here and they were saying to pull and twist. It came off with off with very little effort.

People have said never judge a tree or plant by it's first crop. Surprisingly this orange was soo sweet no bitterness and juicy like you can see in the pics! Even with only a few cool nights it seemed to colour up nicely. I found it much nicer then a Washington Navel with one seed in the fruit. The three others I will leave and pick one a week.
