I need some ideas how I can rearrange this small kitchen to be more opening to the dining room. Also, can anyone advise on a good color to paint the kitchen / dining room?

The doors on your fridge make working in your kitchen awkward. My niece had the same problem and reversed the doors. I don’t know if yours can be reversed to open into your kitchen instead of into the wall, it seems like a little thing, but it really improved the flow of the workspace.

As far as color, everyone here always suggests green. It is my least favorite color because it doesn’t compliment my complexion. I always look seasick in that mossy green. Pick your favorite color then go to a good paint store and look at paint chips (yes, we will eventually GO OUT) and pick some shade of your favorite. I would buy a quart and paint a small sample area next to your cabinets to be sure they are friendly and like each other.
