I'm not sure I would do a pendant in that location necessarily unless it were appropriately short. The way that ceiling slants down, you sure don't want anything coming in too low for that area. Are you wanting something more casual in this space with mentioning a drum pendant? I've seen some really pretty drum lighting from Visual Comfort & Co. You can find the collection at Circa Lighting. The light is very easy on the eyes.

Belaria, yes something simple and casual, soft lighting I was hoping for.

The Visual Comfort & Co. products aren't cheap, but places other than Circa Lighting do sell them, so you might check around for price comparisons or sales. I imagine there is probably a distributor in your area where you could go see the lighting in person. I saw a large display of this brand's products in a lighting specialty store and was instantly impressed with how natural a light they seemed to give. All their styles seem to be very easy on the eyes, almost like going back to the incandescent bulb look even though these are all modern LEDs.

i just confirmed its 120 inches at the spot the light would hang from. do you think a drum is nice choice? or should i consider another shape?

Not being a lighting expert, I'm not sure what to recommend, but 12 feet of height is definitely more than it seemed to appear to me from the photos, so you definitely have some room to work with.
